Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I was always into cycling and running but I was never truly in good shape. I wanted to make a positive change in my life that would last a lifetime. I never thought about CrossFit until my wife Jamie turned me onto it. As soon as I finished my first workout I was hooked and never looked back.

Why did you become a trainer?

When I first got in to CrossFit I had no idea it would turn into a passion. I began researching and learning everything I could find. Eventually the owners of the gym I was training at noticed my dedication to learning the ins and outs of CrossFit and asked me to become a trainer. They planted the seed and it grew into something I loved doing. Teaching people about fitness and health is who I am now and I’m doing what I love everyday.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I played soccer since my youth all the way up until I graduated high school. I didn’t find CrossFit until just after I graduated college, but I felt like an athlete again and I loved that. Going to CrossFit quickly became the best hour of my day. Even now, several years from when I started, as a wife and Mother of two young children, I am still in the best shape of my life!

Why did you become a trainer?

CrossFit changed the fitness industry, making everyday people feel like athletes and improving their lives beyond the fitness spectrum. Simply put, CrossFit makes us better at life! I wanted others to fall in love with CrossFit as much as I had and see how much their lives could improve as well, building a lifetime love of fitness and making lifelong friends along the way. At CrossFit Helix, it is our mission to make class “the best hour of YOUR day” and it’s a huge privilege to be able to cultivate an environment like that for our athletes.

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I had been doing the normal workout routine that was pretty much the same each week for years. After searching for something different and more exciting, I found CrossFit! It was exactly what I was looking for and I loved it! I’ve never looked back since!

Why did you become a trainer?

I loved everything about CrossFit and had a strong desire to learn more and help others. I knew being a trainer would provide me just that and I wanted to take full advantage of the opportunity! Being a trainer here allows me to share my experiences and knowledge with the entire Helix community. By sharing my experiences and knowledge, I’m able to help the members in whatever way I can as they go along their own CrossFit journey. This is what I enjoy most!

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I was a high school athlete, but got out of shape when I went to college. I would try to get back into shape for a few months at a time, but would get sidelined by injuries or busyness and lose my progress. I found CrossFit and was instantly hooked by the diversity and intensity of the workouts, and the awesome and supportive community at the gym. Suddenly I wasn’t trying to get fit on my own, I had people cheering me on and keeping me on track. I finished dead last in every workout for the first month, but now I’m in better shape than I was in high school!

Why did you become a trainer?

I love training and working to improve my fitness and technique in CrossFit, it’s a never ending journey with lots of high highs, and sometimes, some pretty low lows. I became a coach so that I could share that passion, and help others navigate the ups and down on their way to success in their fitness goals, whatever they may be. Were all here to get a little better everyday!

What is your favorite cheat food?

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

Why did you get into fitness (and CrossFit)?

I initially started CrossFit because it seemed like a good way to stay in shape. I was looking for something to keep me active since I was used to being a competitive athlete on a daily basis prior to moving to Greeley. Between volleyball and competing in Archery competitions, fitness was always a part of my life. After learning more about CrossFit and experiencing the amazing community of athletes, I was instantly hooked!

Why did you become a trainer?

After a few years of being a CrossFit athlete, I began to see major improvements in my fitness and overall health. I have developed a love for CrossFit, but even more so for the community we have at Helix. My sole purpose for becoming a trainer was centered around my desire to help others achieve their goals and become the best version of themselves in the same way that the coaches at Helix have done for me.

Why did you become a trainer?

I have always had a passion for fitness and helping people grow forward to realize and reach their goals. After my first son was born in 2013, I decided to (and was fortunate enough to) step down from a corporate management position and focus on my passion of being a coach to support people looking to gain strength, reach their personal and physical goals, and build/foster community.

I have continued to develop my coaching/training education over the years, specifically working with pregnant and postpartum women. My passion is helping women understand why and how this season of athleticism should look and feel different. I help women navigate how to safely and effectively learn different strategies that will support strength and function not only in pregnancy/postpartum but well beyond. I work with women who experience diastasis recti, prolapse, leaking and more – it’s a huge gap that is overlooked in fitness (and in general) and it’s my mission to ensure our community has the support that we all deserve!

In addition to my CF-L2 and CrossFit gymnastics certification, I am a Certified Pregnancy and Postpartum Athleticism Coach, Postnatal Fitness Specialist and have attended courses such as The Pelvic Floor and Core for the Female Athlete taught by leading women’s health physiologist Antony Lo.

What’s your favorite CrossFit movement?

Deadlifts because it’s fun to pick up heavy things and Handstand Push-ups because I am terrified of being upside down and it’s something I’ve progressively developed despite that fear!

What is your favorite cheat food?

I love all kinds of food and eat mostly in moderation what I like which is generally having a carb, fat and protein at every meal. Things that I don’t have all the time that I really love are sushi, my Mom’s chocolate chip cookies, and those mini donut holes. YUM.

What’s your favorite Superhero and why?

The Flash. Imagine being that fast and how quickly you could clean dishes and pick up the house! Also currently my 6 year olds favorite super hero so I know more about him and Spider-Man (my 3 year olds favorite) right now.

Why did you become a trainer?

I became a trainer because when my <om and I were caring for my Dad during his cancer, my CrossFit trainers were so supportive and encouraging. CrossFit was the only place I could go and feel normal and like I fit in. After he passed, they were the only reason I got out of bed. So I became a trainer so I could be that same light for someone else during their struggles.
